Choose a specific vehicle. Where data is available, its detail page shows the import cost calculation. We assess any possible duty benefit with you before purchase.

Important: A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact us before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support through the process. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

Model profile

Model history and generations

Model history and generations

The F-450 pickup sits within Ford's Super Duty family, which was comprehensively redesigned for the 2017 model year with a high-strength aluminium body over a fully boxed steel frame, and then heavily updated for 2023 with new powertrain outputs, a fresh interior and expanded technology. Two broad eras therefore dominate the used market: the 2017–2022 fourth-generation Super Duty and the 2023-onward update.

Powertrain and equipment

Engines, drivetrain and trims

Engines and drivetrain

Two engines define the modern F-450. The headline unit is the 6.7-litre Power Stroke turbodiesel V8, which in later high-output form produces around 500 hp and up to roughly 1,200 lb-ft of torque — colossal figures aimed at heavy gooseneck and fifth-wheel towing.

Which trim makes sense

The body is a full-size crew-cab (or occasionally SuperCab) pickup with a dually rear axle. Trims climb from XL and XLT work-truck levels through Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited, the upper trims rivalling luxury SUVs for interior appointment while retaining the towing hardware.

Vehicle selection

North American market and suitability

Supply on the US market

Supply is plentiful — the Super Duty is a bestseller and many were fleet or working trucks, though plenty of privately owned examples exist in excellent condition.

Who benefits from importing

The F-450 suits buyers with a genuine heavy-towing need — large trailers, horseboxes, boats — or those who specifically want the biggest Ford pickup.

Pre-purchase review

Model-specific inspection points

Known weak points and maintenance

The Super Duty is a durable workhorse, but the 6.7 Power Stroke diesel has specific, well-known weak points to check. The most important is the Bosch CP4.2 high-pressure fuel pump used on many years: when it fails it can send metal debris through the entire fuel system, an expensive repair, and preventative measures (disaster-prevention kits, careful fuel quality) are worth confirming.

Germany and Europe

Differences, adaptation and registration

US and EU spec compared

Beyond the standard US-to-EU items — amber side markers, SAE headlights, miles-based instruments, a required rear fog lamp — the F-450's sheer scale creates real differences.

TÜV, modifications and registration

Approval items include lighting (beam pattern, rear fog lamp, side markers), the km/h display, and — for the diesel — a fully functioning emissions/AdBlue system.

USCar Trader services

Inspection, purchase processing and escrow

As a buyer based in Germany, you do not have to inspect the vehicle yourself in the United States or Canada. Within the agreed scope, USCar Trader can coordinate document review, a separately commissioned on-site inspection and purchase processing.

  • Vehicle profile and history: The profile can show the VIN, US title status and available history records. No data source guarantees that every earlier event was reported.
  • Optional CARFAX report: Additional reported maintenance or service entries can be included. The report is not a complete service book or proof of every interval.
  • On-site inspection / USCT AutoCheck: USCar Trader can arrange a separately booked vehicle inspection. Agreed visible and accessible areas are documented. Road or functional tests require suitable access and seller approval; the visual review is not a lift inspection or workshop diagnosis.
  • Purchase processing and escrow: After approval, USCar Trader can coordinate seller contact, negotiation, contract and the escrow and import service. Fees, payment route and responsibilities are recorded in advance.
  • Recalls: Open safety recalls can be checked by VIN through the NHTSA recall search; they do not describe overall condition.

Covered inspection points are agreed in advance. An on-site inspection records condition at the appointment and is not a guarantee.

Next step: Before commissioning, USCar Trader and the customer agree which document, history, inspection and transaction checks suit the vehicle and are included in the service. This records what was actually checked.

Questions and answers

Common questions about importing this model

Do I need a special driving licence for an F-450 in Germany?

Likely yes. The F-450's gross weight is well above 3.5 tonnes, so a standard class B licence is usually not sufficient — plan for the appropriate C1/C category before purchase.

Which engine should I import, the diesel or the 7.3 petrol?

The 6.7 Power Stroke diesel offers maximum towing torque; the 7.3 "Godzilla" petrol avoids diesel emissions complexity at the cost of higher fuel use. Choose by your towing needs.

What is the biggest reliability concern on the diesel?

The CP4.2 high-pressure fuel pump on many years — a failure can contaminate the whole fuel system. Confirm its history and any preventative measures.

Does this vehicle automatically qualify for a 0% import-duty rate?

No, not automatically. A 0% EU import-duty rate may be available for a vehicle covered by Regulation (EU) 2026/1455 that has US origin and is imported directly into the EU. CETA may apply to a vehicle with preferential Canadian origin. Whether the requirements are met is assessed for the individual case. Please contact USCar Trader before purchase; we review the possible duty benefit and provide non-binding support. Import VAT and other costs are assessed separately.

How much can an F-450 tow?

Configured for gooseneck towing, capacity can reach roughly 40,000 lb, though the usable figure in Germany is governed by registration and licence limits.

Will the AdBlue system work in Germany?

It must function for approval and ongoing use. Verify the DEF, EGR and DPF systems are healthy before importing a diesel.

Is the F-450 practical as a daily vehicle?

Rarely. Its width, length and weight make it demanding in everyday German traffic and parking; it is best suited to genuine heavy-towing use.

Is USCar Trader a Ford dealer?

No. We are an independent broker for used US vehicles, with no manufacturer partnership and no margin.
